The Auction

26 June 2001

The Second Annual Poets Auction at The Spoken Word Poetry Series in Providence, RI was a huge success. Lots of great items were won, including vintage toys donated by Adam G. Smith, original artwork provided by Anne Murray and The Silent One, a pink inflatable guitar bearing the legend, "King of Karaoke" signed by Gary Ian Hoare, and an air conditioner!.

Poets were also auctioned off Tuesday night (for activities to be determined by the poet and the winner of the auction). If I rember correctly, Nici Arruda, clad in a medieval-style gown accented with black lace spiderwebs brought the highest bid of the night. The Silent One will be preparing a "meal with an international theme" for Adam G. Smith, and Henry and Jen of Crazy Henry's Discount Poetry Emporium were sold as a set.

Nichole Guldi, a regular reader at The Spoken Word Poetry Series in Providence, RI, was playing hardball during the auction - winning items by using tactics like a seasoned blackjack player. Everyone had lots of fun.

Congratulations to all the winners, especially The Spoken Word Poetry Series which raised a bunch of money thanks to the generosity of those who bid.

See you all next year!
