| $$ | The Auction26 June 2001 The Second Annual Poets Auction at The Spoken Word Poetry Series in Providence, RI was a huge success. Lots of great items were won, including vintage toys donated by Adam G. Smith, original artwork provided by Anne Murray and The Silent One, a pink inflatable guitar bearing the legend, "King of Karaoke" signed by Gary Ian Hoare, and an air conditioner!. |
Poets were also auctioned off Tuesday night (for activities to be determined by the poet and the winner of the auction). If I rember correctly, Nici Arruda, clad in a medieval-style gown accented with black lace spiderwebs brought the highest bid of the night. The Silent One will be preparing a "meal with an international theme" for Adam G. Smith, and Henry and Jen of Crazy Henry's Discount Poetry Emporium were sold as a set.
Nichole Guldi, a regular reader at The Spoken Word Poetry Series in Providence, RI, was playing hardball during the auction - winning items by using tactics like a seasoned blackjack player. Everyone had lots of fun.
Congratulations to all the winners, especially The Spoken Word Poetry Series which raised a bunch of money thanks to the generosity of those who bid.
See you all next year!
